Creative Lives Producer: Sonia Mehrmand

Creative Lives is about elevating and amplifying the stories of CALD, migrant, refugee and POC creatives.

In 2017 Dr Margaret Mayhew interviewd three POC creatives in Melbourne. Artists included UB Topia, Sista Zia and Mahla Karimiyan talk about their arts practise,  stories of support and challenges of settling into Australia.

In 2020 Australian creatives were hit hard on all sides due to covid, Diversity Arts Australia commissioned  interviews with artists to help advocate for more support for POC creatives in the recovery out of covid. Diana Nguyen a Melbourne creative and comedian and Sydney Dancer Cloe Fournier share their story and journey into their arts practise, the struggles of being an artist in Australia and their journey through covid times in Australia. These interviews were recorded via zoom during covid lock downs.

Outcome: Promotional videos profiling each Artist. Films were also used to help advocate for more support for POC creatives.
